About

I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work ranges from painting, assemblage, installation and screenprint.

I create ‘fragments’; or rather, richly layered, colorful compositions that convey a sense of narrative, and emerge after a long process of arrangement. Inspired by painters like Manzoni, Rauschenberg and textile artists like Caroline Achaintre, I have an ongoing preoccupation with the properties of painting, using the canvas as a compositional device to create an interplay between dense layers of paint, fabric and minimalist outline. I’m interested in how these materials interact and also break down.

As a former graphic designer, my work also explores text as a compositional device, and language associated with personal experience.

Originally from Northern Ireland, I have lived in Portland for 7 years, and am a mother of two.
